He received his law degree from Rutgers Law School and his Masters in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He is a member of the New Jersey and New York bars and admitted to practice before the United States Tax Court.

Mike has significant experience in all aspects of estate planning and administration, with emphasis on the development of sophisticated plans for business owners and high net worth individuals as well as estate and trust administration matters.  His expertise includes family business succession planning, charitable planning, and premarital agreements. However, Mike recognizes the benefits that even a simple will provides to families and offers competitive fee structures to accommodate each client’s needs.

Mike’s practice includes the preparation of wills, trust agreements and related instruments, the representation of clients in estate tax and gift tax audits, and general counseling of clients in all phases of the administration of decedents’ estates and trusts.

For more than 30 years, Mike has guided his clients through the complexities of estate planning, tax and business planning, and estate and trust administration.  He works collaboratively with a family’s accountant, insurance agent and financial adviser to craft integrated plans that provide comprehensive solutions to best serve the needs of each family.

In addition to representing families, Mike advises executors and trustees on their duties and responsibilities in managing estates and trusts, including the preparation of estate and inheritance tax returns. He also advises fiduciaries and beneficiaries in estate and trust litigation matters and the preparation and review of informal and formal accountings.

Mike is experienced in all aspects of federal and state taxation, including advising individuals and businesses with respect to the purchases and sales of assets, mergers and acquisitions, and many other types of corporate transactions. When disputes with taxing authorities arise, he defends taxpayers against the Internal Revenue Service and the New Jersey and New York tax divisions in tax controversy matters. He works with individuals, regular and S corporations, partnerships, limited liability companies, and other organizations, giving them sound tax advice throughout the life cycle of their businesses.

Mike also has significant experience in assisting clients with business formations, commercial transactions, review and drafting of commercial agreements including employment agreements, service agreements, operating agreements, and shareholder and buy/sell agreements. He regularly provides strategic advice and practical solutions on the planning, organization, recapitalization, and restructuring of new or existing businesses.

A part of Mike’s practice includes the representation of public charities and private foundations. He has advised directors and trustees on a variety of corporate and tax issues and has formed numerous family foundations and public charitable entities.

He currently volunteers as a member of the board of a chapter of the American Cancer Society and the board of Alzheimer’s New Jersey, where he has served in each case for over 20 years.
